Teaching Philosophy
My name is Jenny Abdella. I have been teaching for 16 years. I am certified to teach all subjects kindergarten through fifth grade. I have a minor in physical education which certifies me to teach P.E.. Finally, I have a Masters in Technology in Education which will certify me to teach tech courses.
My philosophy of education is to teach developmentally appropriate subjects to children. My goal is to make learning fun and interesting so that students will not lose interest. I’d like the students to gain a sense of general knowledge of school related subjects while implementing interpersonal skills. I would also like them to gain a sense of responsibility. I believe that all these skills are essential and should be carried out in the classroom.
Through my experiences thus far, I have learned many things about becoming a professional and loving educator. I love children, and I love to teach. I come from a long line of teachers, and I know that I was made to follow in that path. I have some specific expectations of what I think a teacher should be, and I strongly stand by them.
My main reason for wanting to become a school teacher is that I enjoy helping students learn. I enjoy that look on their faces the first time they learn something. I believe that a good teacher is one who cares about students’ school progress as well as their personal well-being. I am a teacher who puts everything into my students, ensuring that they get all the necessary information to move on successfully to the next level. A good teacher makes it fun and interesting to learn. I believe that a teacher should acknowledge that all children are capable of learning. A good teacher should differentiate instruction to accommodate all learning styles and abilities. A teacher should have a good sense of humor and should often share this with her students. A good teacher should not only focus on students’ educational skills, but also build their character as well, by teaching honesty, kindness, respect, courage, and responsibility for both school related work and actions. A teacher should understand that every student is someone’s most precious person. Most of all, a good teacher strives to create a safe educational environment where quality work is expected regardless of varying backgrounds and ability levels. Students should feel free to exchange their ideas without fear of ridicule. I believe that these are essential skills for all teachers, and I do live by these standards everyday in my classroom.
